You live in a little village, and it will be election day soon. Charm your fellow villagers into voting for you to become mayor and thus defeat your opponent, the current mayor Mike!

Use arrow keys (up and down) to select a dialogue and press space to speak the dialogue.

WARNING: There is a minor graphical issue with the win screen where "You win" appears in the top left corner instead of at the centre. In case you win, you can see it there.

Please read the instructions so that you can get the best gameplay experience.

Before playing, it is essential that you should read "USAGE OF SKILLS" (https://two119.itch.io/election-day-web#:~:text=USAGE%20OF%20SKILLS%20(IMPORTANT...)

and "ABOUT VILLAGER ATTITUDES" (https://two119.itch.io/election-day-web#:~:text=gameplay%20and%20conversations.-...)

and lastly, "IMPROVING VILLAGER'S ATTITUDE TO YOU" (https://two119.itch.io/election-day-web#:~:text=IMPROVING%20VILLAGER%27S%20ATTIT...)

Instructions below in case you are confused:

SKILLS:

USAGE OF SKILLS (IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ THIS):

-You can use skills in conversations. There are: spreading rumours about your opponent (liar skill), intimidation (intimidator skill), and flattering the villagers to vote for you (flatterer skill). The better your skill level in a skill, the better chance you have of getting someone to vote for you by using that skill

-Using the flatterer, skill will be making flattering remarks; for intimidation skill, it will be  "Hey, you!" and also "Vote for me, or else..."; for liar, it will be spreading rumours about Mike.

-Use x to add points to a skill and z to remove points from the skill.

-Set skills from the skill pick screen which appears when you start playing. You will have a certain number of skill points based on difficulty. You can invest up to 3 points in one skill. You need to decide carefully which skills to invest in more and which not to invest in. The points reference:

1) 1 point in a skill will take it to bad

2) 2 points in a skill will take it to good

3) 3 points in a skill will take it to great

-At the top left corner you can see some traits of the villagers. Based on their traits you can use a skill to convince them to vote for you.

Easy to flatter trait - more likely to accept flattering remarks (flatterer skill)

gullible - more likely to accept rumours about mike (liar skil)

coward - more likely to vote for  you when intimidate them through "vote for me or else" or "hey, you!" (intimidator skill)

INFO BAR:

-You can see info about the conversation in the top right corner, which appears when you use a skill. You can also see how many votes you have below it.

VILLAGER ATTITUDES (IMPORTANT):

-Each villager has a particular attitude towards you, which influences gameplay and conversations.

ABOUT VILLAGER ATTITUDES:

-Stranger: less likely to remember you, agree with you (about mike being a terrible mayor)  and vote for you.

-Acquaintance:  still unlikely to remember you, agree with you (about mike being a terrible mayor) and vote for you (but more likely than stranger)

-Friend- better chance they will remember you, agree with you (about mike being a terrible mayor)  and vote for you

-Good friend-best chance they will remember you, agree with you (about mike being a terrible mayor)  and vote for you

-Hostile: They will likely remember you, and can still be intimidated, however, rumours and flattery and also asking them "Will you vote for me?" are less likely to work. They will probably not agree with you (about mike being a terrible mayor) .

-Very Hostile: They will remember you, and can still be intimidated, however, rumours and flattery and also asking them "Will you vote for me?" are very unlikely to work. They will almost certainly not agree with you (about mike being a terrible mayor) .

IMPROVING VILLAGER'S ATTITUDE TO YOU:

-You can improve a villager's attitude towards you by asking them how they are doing, asking them to remember you and asking them if Mike is a terrible mayor.

- Their attitude will improve a little by asking them how they are doing (improvement is stored off-screen and does not affect gameplay unless it improves by a full level).

-For asking them if Mike is a terrible mayor, there is a chance (based on their current attitude, see "ABOUT VILLAGER ATTITUDES" for more info) that they will agree with you, which will improve their attitude more than asking them how they are doing.

- Same with them remembering you - there is a chance they will, and if they do it will improve their attitude towards you. If you manage to get them to improve enough by that, their attitude on screen will become more friendly and less hostile (friend will become good friend, stranger will become acquaintance, very hostile will become hostile etc.)
